What does an ATS see when it reads my resume?
ATS software parses your resume into structured fields: contact info, work history, education, and skills. It looks for standard section headings, consistent date formats, and keyword matches against the job description. If your formatting prevents clean parsing, your content can be lost or scrambled. This tool shows you the text our parser pulled out and which sections it detected, a directional preview of how an ATS may read your resume.
Why does my DOCX result differ from my PDF?
DOCX and PDF store text differently. DOCX keeps a clean text layer, and a text-based PDF exported from Word, Google Docs or LaTeX parses close to it. The real hazard is not the extension: it is a PDF whose text has been flattened into an image, which parses as blank because standard ATS parsing does no OCR. Single-column layouts parse more reliably than multi-column ones in either format.
What are the most common ATS formatting problems?
The most commonly documented problems are multi-column layouts that scramble reading order, tables that split related content, text embedded in images or in headers and footers that gets skipped entirely, missing standard section headings such as "Where I Worked" instead of "Experience", and inconsistent date formats. This checker cannot see all of them. It shows you the text a parser extracts, warns when it cannot find your standard sections at all, flags a section heading it can see but could not segment, warns when a file is large enough that some parsers give up on it, warns when text looks letter-spaced, and leaves the layout judgement to you.
How is this different from other ATS checkers?

No. Your resume is processed on our servers and discarded after analysis. We do not store, share, or retain your file or its contents.
